Yahoo Pipes, the new new old thing

E... Publicar tudo em RSS feeds!!

Segundo o povo da O'Reilly, " Yahoo!'s new Pipes service is a milestone in the history of the internet. It's a service that generalizes the idea of the mashup, providing a drag and drop editor that allows you to connect internet data sources, process them, and redirect the output. Yahoo! describes it as "an interactive feed aggregator and manipulator" that allows you to "create feeds that are more powerful, useful and relevant." While it's still a bit rough around the edges, it has enormous promise in turning the web into a programmable environment for everyone"

Aqui, ainda a O'Reilly explica como é q isso funciona.

12/02: Phil Waynewright tbm dá suas contribuições e descrições de suas aventuras com os pipes aqui, dizendo:

"This is the sort of mashup that Yahoo! Pipes ought to excel at, but it fails at a very simple hurdle. Let me start off though by paying tribute to the designers of Pipe and make clear that they have made it exceptionally easy to link to feeds and mix them together. The trouble with making it so easy to get thus far is that it just gets you to the next obstacle that much more quickly. It took me no more than a few minutes — aided by a quick scan of this introductory tutorial — to fetch two feeds, filter one of them, splice them and then run a sort"

Logo depois (e acompanhando mais algumas repercursões da mídia), o mesno Phil relata sua NOVA experiência (um dia após, novamente).

"BusinessWeek describes the team that built Yahoo! Pipes as the company's "inner startup". I can certainly vouch for the fact that they act much more like a highly motivated startup team than a big-company product group. Quick as a flash, Kevin Cheng from the Pipes design team was first to comment on my posting with a message headed Date sorting is a known bug:

Phil, you're absolutely right. Fixing date sorting (and normalizing common formats) is one of our top priorities. We totally agree that the utility is greatly enhanced with that feature =) Don't give up hope for that dream yet!

I ran a quick check, and sure as can be, sorting feeds by in the format that didn't work yesterday now works just fine. I don't think I've ever experienced such a fast turnaround to a reported problem and it demonstrates how fired up the Pipes team really is, which bodes well for the future of this tool as a superb addition to the Web 2.0 pantheon."

13/02: Agora o povo da O'Reilly descobriu a estória dos webPipes!!!

Ou seja, não só a novidade é um troço animal... Mas o time que está reforçando isso é muito ágil.

SENTAPUA! E vamos à luta, filhos da Pátria!
